The team at Dealreporter is comprised of highly experienced financial journalists and analysts who are based in 65 locations around the world, tracking and reporting on industry sectors in real-time.
Dealreporter was founded in July 2002 as a unique independent intelligence service covering the European market. Over the years we’ve expanded our coverage geographically and introduced unique sets of content across different trading strategies.
Our coverage is global, with separate products covering North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe and Latin America
In 2006, we became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Financial Times Group, retaining complete editorial independence.

Executive Team
Ben Johnson
Managing Director
Ben joined The Mergermarket Group in 2004. He oversees the global operations of both the Mergermarket and Dealreporter products, with particular emphasis on formulating and implementing commercial strategy to ensure revenue targets are achieved. He has overall responsibility for product development and research, and also steers the CRM, marketing and PR, editorial and IT teams.
Previous experience
With 13 years’ experience of managing teams and driving sales, Ben held a number of sales and sales management positions in the technology sector before joining Mergermarket, working for companies such as QAS (part of the Experian Group) and Messagelabs (part of the Symantec Group).

Yanita Morris
Global Editor in Chief
Yanita manages both Dealreporter’s content and analytics, as well as its editorial teams across Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. One of her key responsibilities is finding new sets of content to help grow Dealreporter’s client base.
Previous experience
Yanita has more than 12 years’ experience as an on-the-ground reporter, covering risk arbitrage, credit and hybrid markets, and international securities laws in North America, Europe, Russia & CIS and Asia Pacific. Before joining Dealreporter in 2005, she was a credit analyst at European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and at Dana Commercial Credit.

Lucinda Guthrie
Editor - Europe
Lucinda manages a team of journalists who cover breaking news on corporate events involving listed companies across Europe. Her team provides intelligence for the equity and fixed income markets that is tailored to hedge funds, proprietary trading desks, security lending, ECM syndicate desks and institutional fund managers.
Previous experience
With nine years’ experience of business journalism, Lucinda has reported on markets and corporate events in Europe, Latin America and Asia. Lucinda joined The Mergermarket Group in 2006 and, before managing the European editorial team, she was deputy editor for Dealreporter Asia.

Alessandra Castelli
Deputy Editor - Europe
Alessandra assists in leading the European operation of Dealreporter and also runs the editorial content for Dealreporter’s Dividend Outlook service. She has over eight years of experience in financial journalism and her expertise is the Italian market.
Previous experience
Alessandra joined Mergermarket in May 2004 as research analyst. After working as a business services and transport reporter, she then moved in January 2006 to Dealreporter where she covered large scale M&A deals. She later was Head of Italian coverage where she co-ordinated all coverage on the market. Alessandra previously worked as a training lawyer for a Milan-based law firm.

Ed Vinales
News Editor - Europe
Ed covers short to medium term event situations across a broad range of sectors in Europe. He has experience in cross border M&A particularly in the natural resources space and previously focused on special situations and risk arbitrage across the energy, technology and the general insurance sectors.
Previous experience
Prior to joining Dealreporter in 2007, Ed worked for a specialist weekly insurance magazine after gaining work experience at a business intelligence firm.

Heba Abdelrahman
Special Situations Editor - Europe
Heba is responsible for ensuring coverage of the most high-profile and tradable situations in order to produce market-critical intelligence for the hedge fund industry. Her particular areas of expertise lie in M&A, deal structures and special situations.
Previous experience
Heba joined Dealreporter in 2003. Before this, she spent two years writing for Mergermarket. Prior to joining the Group, Heba covered commodities for an emerging markets publication and also covered investment for an online publication.Education

Tom Cane
Managing Editor - Asia-Pacific
Tom leads Dealreporter’s editorial operations across Asia-Pacific. He is responsible for developing our content in the region, notably launching coverage of the active Asian ECM market to complement our core M&A and special situations offering. Based in Hong Kong, Tom has also focused on building market-leading coverage of Greater China, with reporters specializing in regulatory procedures as well as M&A and ECM.
Previous experience
Tom was previously Dealreporter’s European deputy editor, in charge of the region’s ECM coverage and covering the real estate and financial services markets. Prior to joining Dealreporter, Tom wrote on capital markets and private equity for a legal media organization.

Sze Toh Yuin Munn
Editor - Asia-Pacific
Sze Toh has over eight years of experience as a journalist specializing in equity and equity-linked coverage in Asia-Pacific. She joined Dealreporter in 2008 in Hong Kong and has since led the editorial direction and the development of the product’s coverage of the convertible bond market across the region.
Previous experience
Prior to Dealreporter, Sze Toh was based in Singapore as a correspondent for Thomson Financial, where she reported on the local economy and equity market. During her time with Thomson Financial, she also worked in the Sydney bureau where she covered the Australian economy and equity market.

Jay Antenen
Editor - North America
Jay leads Dealreporter’s coverage of US and Canadian M&A and capital markets from New York. He is focused on expanding Dealreporter’s special situations, equity capital markets and analytics content.
Previous experience
Jay joined the Mergermarket Group as a junior reporter in the summer of 2007 to cover the banking and insurance industries. At the start of the financial crisis in 2008, he moved to Dealreporter where he scored numerous exclusives on failed bank auctions, capital raises and sales.

Claudia Montoto
Deputy Editor - North America
Claudia leads Dealreporter’s industrial coverage, with a focus on aerospace & defense, chemicals, and transportation. She also spearheads mining coverage while covering auctions across multiple sectors. During her tenure at the product, she has broken news on companies for sale in addition to tending to the intricacies of transactions including regulatory and shareholder coverage.

Originally from Miami, FL, Claudia has been a member of the Mergermarket Group family since 2006, joining Dealreporter in 2007 to lead the product’s industrial coverage.

Mo Fahimi
Head of Sales - Americas
As Head of Sales for the Americas region, Mo is responsible for all commercial relationships and distribution of global Dealreporter content in the United States, Canada and Latin America. His in-depth knowledge of the US institutional investment community enables him to anticipate their requirements for financial intelligence.
Previous experience
Mo joined Dealreporter in 2005 from Oppenheimer & Co where he was an Institutional Equity Sales Executive. He previously worked with CIBC World Markets as a Financial Advisor and as an Institutional Mid-Market Sales Executive and Trader.

Benedikte Hollander
Head of Sales - EMEA
Benedikte heads the London-based Dealreporter EMEA sales team. She provides close mentoring and direction to ensure her team meets its sales and renewals targets. Benedikte is also responsible for new product development ideas and for exploring possible new services.
Previous experience
With 12 years’ sales and trading experience, Benedikte has a strong background in financial markets and in-depth knowledge of AIM. Before joining Dealreporter in 2003, she worked on the US institutional Sales Desk at William Blair and Brown Brothers Harriman. She has also worked for Merrill Lynch Private Clients.

Matthew Board
Head of Sales - Asia- Pacific
Matthew heads the Dealreporter Asia-Pac sales team. He applies his target-driven approach and detailed knowledge of both the equity and credit markets to driving sales in the region. Matthew is also responsible for developing the Dealreporter service to the ever evolving Asia markets.
Previous experience
Before joining Dealreporter in 2010, Matthew worked as a Portfolio Manager at RBS in London in the Structured Credit team for 6 years. He was also an Equity Derivatives Trader at Timber Hill in Sydney for 3 years.

John Brokos
Head of Research - Hedge Fund Products
John joined the Mergermarket Group in 2001, working as a graduate M&A researcher for mergermarket. He then moved across to help build the analytical side of Dealreporter. He now manages the research and data side of the Group’s two hedge fund products, Dealreporter and Debtwire.
An independent thinker, John’s key areas of expertise are in Merger and M&A-related Arbitrage, Stressed Credits, and Restructuring.
