Heba Abdelrahman

Special Situations Editor - Europe

Heba is responsible for ensuring coverage of the most high-profile and tradable situations in order to produce market-critical intelligence for the hedge fund industry. Her particular areas of expertise lie in M&A, deal structures and special situations.


Previous experience

Heba joined Dealreporter in 2003. Before this, she spent two years writing for Mergermarket. Prior to joining the Group, Heba covered commodities for an emerging markets publication and also covered investment for an online publication.

Jay Antenen

Deputy Managing Editor, Americas

Jay leads Dealreporter’s coverage of US and Canadian M&A from New York. Along with editing, he reports on private equity, financial services and financial technology deals.



Previous experience

Jay joined Acuris as a junior reporter in the summer of 2007 to cover the banking and insurance industries. At the start of the financial crisis in 2008, he moved to Dealreporter where he scored numerous exclusives on failed bank auctions, capital raises and sales.

Matthew Board

Head of Sales - Asia- Pacific

Matthew heads the Dealreporter Asia-Pac sales team. He applies his target-driven approach and detailed knowledge of both the equity and credit markets to driving sales in the region. Matthew is also responsible for developing the Dealreporter service to the ever evolving Asia markets.


Previous experience

Before joining Dealreporter in 2010, Matthew worked as a Portfolio Manager at RBS in London in the Structured Credit team for 6 years. He was also an Equity Derivatives Trader at Timber Hill in Sydney for 3 years.

Tom Cane

Managing Editor - Americas

Tom heads both Mergermarket and Dealreporter’s editorial operations across the Americas, overseeing the products’ combined team of more than 50 reporters across the region that specialise in M&A and capital markets coverage. As well as managing regional editors and hiring key staff, Tom is responsible for identifying new areas of coverage. In 2012 he notably launched our successful ECM product.
Previous experience

Before becoming Dealreporter’s Asia editor in 2010, Tom was European deputy editor, where he headed ECM coverage and covered real estate and financial services. Prior to joining Mergermarket, Tom wrote on capital markets and private equity for a legal media organisation in London.

Alessandra Castelli

Public Markets Editor

Alessandra leads Mergermarket and Dealreporter public markets coverage across EMEA. In addition to coordinating the European RiskArb and special situations editorial output, she is leading the Activistmonitor’s EMEA operation. Based in London, Alessandra is also focusing in identifying new content sets within the public markets. She has over 13 years of experience in financial journalism having covered large scale of M&A deals.

Previous experience

Alessandra joined Acuris in May 2004 as research analyst. Since then she has worked on both Mergermarket and Dealreporter editorial teams, first as Head of Italian coverage, then Deputy Editor and Editor of Dealreporter. Alessandra previously worked as a training lawyer for a Milan-based law firm.

Mo Fahimi

Head of Sales - Americas

As Head of Sales for the Americas region, Mo is responsible for all commercial relationships and distribution of global Dealreporter content in the United States, Canada and Latin America. His in-depth knowledge of the US institutional investment community enables him to anticipate their requirements for financial intelligence.


Previous experience

Mo joined Dealreporter in 2005 from Oppenheimer & Co where he was an Institutional Equity Sales Executive. He previously worked with CIBC World Markets as a Financial Advisor and as an Institutional Mid-Market Sales Executive and Trader.

Virginia Garcia Martinez

Transactions Editor - EMEA

Virginia leads Mergermarket and Dealreporter private markets coverage across EMEA. She coordinates the editorial output on private companies and private equity, managing a team of reporters and regional editors. Based in London, Virginia is also focusing on identifying and developing new content sets within the private markets and hiring new talent. She has over 10 years of experience in financial journalism and M&A.


Previous experience

Virginia joined Acuris in March 2008 as part of the research team and since 2009 worked as a reporter in Mergermarket’s editorial team, covering the consumer, retail and leisure sectors. Prior to her current responsibilities, Virginia served as London Bureau Chief, leading a team of London-based reporters. She previously worked for a leading Spanish television channel and as a translator.

Lucinda Guthrie

Deputy Editor in Chief, Equities and Transactions

Lucinda manages a team of journalists who cover breaking news on corporate events involving listed companies across Europe. Her team provides intelligence for the equity and fixed income markets that is tailored to hedge funds, proprietary trading desks, security lending, ECM syndicate desks and institutional fund managers.


Previous experience

With thirteen years’ experience of business journalism, Lucinda has reported on markets and corporate events in Europe, Latin America and Asia. Lucinda joined Acuris in 2006 and, before managing the European editorial team, she was deputy editor for Dealreporter Asia.

Patricia Heiberger

Managing Editor - Asia Pacific

Patricia Heiberger is Asia Pacific Managing Editor of Mergermarket and Dealreporter, leading a team of more than 50 reporters, editors and translators dedicated to covering M&A and capital markets.  Based in Hong Kong, she specializes in China M&A, private equity buyouts, and crossborder deals.


Previous experience

She was previously based in Singapore where she established Mergermarket’s first Southeast Asia-based team, which initiated coverage on markets like Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar. 

Prior to joining Mergermarket, Patricia was an investigative and general finance reporter in her native Philippines.  


Anette Jonsson

Associate Editor - Asia Pacific

A Swedish national, Anette has been in Hong Kong since 1999 and joined Dealreporter in August 2015 as an editor and reporter with a focus on risk-arb and special situations across Asia-Pacific.


Previous experience

Before that, she spent eight years with FinanceAsia covering Asia ECM and other investment banking-related news.


Anette has also done a 2.5-year stint as markets editor with the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and worked for Dow Jones Newswiresin London, Stockholm and Hong Kong, covering everything from government bonds and foreign exchange markets to Swedish politics and Hong Kong corporate news.

Yanita Morris

Editor in Chief, Global Equities

As Editor in Chief of Global Equities, Yanita Morris manages the editorial teams of Mergermarket, Dealreporter and PaRR globally. One of her key responsibilities is finding new sets of content to broaden Dealreporter's subscriber base.


Previous experience

Yanita has more than 12 years’ experience as an on-the-ground reporter, covering risk arbitrage, credit and hybrid markets, and international securities laws in North America, Europe, Russia & CIS and Asia Pacific. Before joining Dealreporter in 2005, she was a credit analyst at European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and at Dana Commercial Credit.

Ben Rumble

Head of Sales - EMEA

As Dealreporter’s Head of Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Ben applies his detailed knowledge of the M&A process to driving sales and managing the EMEA sales team.


Previous experience

Before he joined Acuris in 2007, Ben spent three years as an Associate for Shield Corporate Finance where he specialised in sell side M&A.

Washington DC Bureau Chief


As Washington DC Bureau Chief, Joseph leads our US antitrust coverage on mergers, enforcement and litigation.


Previous experience:
Joseph has a vast experience practicing antitrust and cyber law for large global firms including Hunton & Williams and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton.  He also has clerked for the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
As one of the founders for the antitrust publication The Capitol Forum, Joseph also has a strong editorial background. He is an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law and serves as Vice Chair of the Compliance and Ethics Committee.

Ed Vinales

M&A Editor - Asia Pacific

Ed leads Dealreporter’s risk arbitrage, special situation and pre-event coverage in Asia Pacific. He was previously news editor for Dealreporter Europe having joined Acuris in late 2007.


Previous experience

Before joining Acuris, Ed spent 2.5 years at Post Magazine, a specialist weekly insurance publication. Prior to that, he gained work experience at GPW ltd, a corporate investigations and business intelligence firm.

John West

Managing Editor - EMEA

John heads Mergermarket and Dealreporter editorial output across EMEA, leading a team of more than 50 reporters across both products focused on M&A, growth capital raises and stock market placings. Based in London, John specializes in ECM coverage and oversees development of new coverage areas, such as ICOs.

Previous experience

Joining Dealreporter in 2012, John oversaw ECM output and became Deputy Editor for the product’s European operation in 2015. Before joining Acuris, John spent five years covering western European stock markets at Standard & Poor’s MarketScope. He has also worked as a freelance speech writing consultant and contributed to Tribune and d’Lëtzebuerger Land.
